Butler Wiltshire (previously WMB) is a design studio. We work on projects that range in scale, from street furniture to buildings. We develop conceptually inventive projects with a clear diagrammatic approach. An exploration of geometric form underpins our design processes, alongside our fascination for how things are made and assembled. Regardless of scale or budget, our projects are focused on creating a beautiful, functional and enriching experience for those who encounter them.
Ed Butler​​​​​​​
Ed studied Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University, receiving the RIBA President’s Medals Komfort Award for his diploma thesis project.
Prior to co-founding Butler Wiltshire, he worked for the Richard Rogers Partnership in London and BDP in Manchester.
Alongside Butler Wiltshire projects, Ed also currently teaches BA Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University.
Daniel Wiltshire
Daniel studied Architecture at the Universities of Bath, Sheffield and KTH in Stockholm. Prior to co-founding Butler Wiltshire he worked for Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, de Rijke Marsh Morgan (dRMM) and Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM).
Daniel has a particular interest in housing, having helped illustrate the book ‘Flexible Housing’ the winner of the RIBA President’s Awards for Outstanding University-based Research, and recently explored pioneering housing design in Japan and Germany as a recipient of a Churchill Fellowship. ​​​​​​​
Alongside Butler Wiltshire, he is currently undertaking a PhD, which focuses on design, adaptation and resilient housing in response to our changing climate. Daniel also guest reviews at various Universities and is a Design Review Panel member for the North West.
Selected Competitions, Publications and Exhibitions
Before forming Butler Wiltshire, initially as WMB studio, the co-founders worked together on design competitions whilst working for larger architectural practices, including successful shortlisted entries for Stockton North Shore and the Loch Lomond viewing platform. They worked alongside Aberrant Architecture on the project ‘Gordon Wu, City Local' for the HK/ Shenzhen biennale.

Exhibition 
A reprised Sling Swing (in blue) formed the centrepiece of the Vinterbyen – (Winter City) exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) in Copenhagen.
